AMS Conference - Day 3

The last full day in Phoenix was definitely the busiest in terms of talks as I sat through quite a few between meeting with various people for a final time before flying back to Denver early Wednesday morning.

The conference as a whole was definitely very worth while, and I am glad that even with the flight issues getting out, I decided to stick it out and try to get out the following day. I easily would've regretted not making it out considering all that came out of it. I thought the talks as a whole were pretty good, but most of my talks were various severe weather case studies and of course anything dealing with tornadoes. Some of the more scientific talks seemed a bit weak compared to what I remember from the 2004 Seattle conference, but were still really good.

The big plus for me was the networking and seeing some old friends and professors during the course of the stay. I was able to spend some good time with Dr. Bruce Lee and Dr. Cathy Finnley, Dr. Sam Ng, storm chaser Jeff Duda, Kim, Char, and the UNC gang, and of course my cohorts from Metro; Marta, Ben, Kendell, Eric, and Rachel. Even got to spend a few minutes chatting with Josh Wurman, Reed Timmer, Sean McMullen, and Joel Taylor. More than anything, just the networking was worth the trip alone.

As always with such a deal, it was nice to get home and relax. It was a very full week and I was definitely feeling the early mornings and late nights as yesterday wrapped up. I don't have any real photos from yesterday as there wasn't any big get togethers, nor did I shoot any of the talks, but take my word it was a filled day.

Two more days of work before the weekend, then my last undergrad semester kicks off on Tuesday. The National Storm Chasers Convention is the next big weather/chase related item on the list, then focus turns to the start of the 2009 season which will be getting here very soon!

Alright, had to at least embarrass Char and Kim from UNC as we hung out after the conference Tuesday night.
